Google Analytics : A Ultimate Tracker For Your Site .

Did you hear the name of Google Analytics ?? I tried to guess the answer of my question and I think most of you know what is it :) So may this post will go for them who owned a site but don’t know google analytics .

Ummmm…Thinking how I will start ?? Hmmm….. :)

By the way, if you ask me why I’m writing this article ? My answer is I see lots of people is afraid about google analytics . They think it is very critical to use .But i see it isn’t !! It is very easy :)

How To Start ?

  • Do you have a account on google/gmail ? I know it is a question like foolish . But it is just for remembering . If you don’t have one please create a account right now and go to : http://www.google.com/analytics and sign up for a new acgoogle-analytics-1.JPGcount by using your google/gmail account . :)
  • Login to your account . Then click on Add Website Profile » like this picture . On the next page fill all data and press continue .Then it will give you a code to place on the top of your web pages or site’s template . It is better to place the code in template file instead of web pages . If you are a wordpress user then go to “Theme Editor” > Header and place the code after <body> tag . If you think it is hard for you to manage these things may you can install Google Analyticator plugin .
  • If you can complete 2nd step successfully then you will see a green signal from google in your analytics account just like this image :

You will see “transferring data from www.google-analytics.com” in status bar of your browser while loading your site . Look at this image :

I everything is same for you , Then you are almost done . :)

How To Use ?

Lol…. :D I think that is a question like a how to play games !! Isn’t it ?? I mean click on every link from your analytics dashboard then you will learn everything of analytics unless that will be hard to track/understand your traffic . After trying if you have any question in your mind don’t hesitate to ask me here . Okey ??

By the way, here I’m posting some images from inside of analytics .google-analytics-4.JPG google-analytics-5.JPGgoogle-analytics-6.JPG

Some Info :

  • For those who think Google is missing out on some stats, I don’t know if this might be the reason, but give it some more time. E.g. when I checked my stats on Wednesday, Tuesday was already showing but with lower numbers than I expected (and lower numbers than Monday). And then, on Thursday, it’s showing with higher numbers than Monday. In other words, Google is often showing only partial data for a day, even though the day is already displayed. That might make some think the data of that day has been acquired completely, but that’s only one of the little oddities of Google Analytics…
  • The geo map overlay graphic might not actually show precisely where your visitors come from. Certain proxies might fool you into thinking everybody’s from place X, when actually only the proxy is located at X.

Limitations

Many ad filtering programs and extensions (such as Adblock) can block the Urchin JavaScript. This potentially prevents some traffic and users from being tracked, and leads to holes in the statistical data. Also, privacy networks like Tor will mask the user’s actual location and present inaccurate geographical data. Some users do not have Javascript-enabled/capable browsers, which further limits the tracking ability of Urchin .

Do you have some points to say us ?? Please post a comment . But before ending i have a question to you which function of analytics do you like most ??

I will tell my one after hearing all of yours :)

Yeah, as far as site tracking and analytics goes Google (Urchin) is the market force and the benchmark for the industry (hence why google bought Urchin out years ago), since they were the best.
